Westwater

Last weekend Cody and I packed up the truck, dropped Milo off at his grandma's and left him for the first time. We met up with our friends Kyler and Julia and headed south. Our destination: the put in on Westwater. (Westwater is a section of the Colorado river just east of Moab.) It felt good. Like I was finding a piece of me I forgot existed. It reminded me of when Cody and I were newlyweds and we would go to Moab almost every weekend in the spring jeeping, biking, climbing and just camping.

We arrived at the put in in a windstorm but we were not about to let that dampen our spirits. We set up camp rigged the boat and waited for the rest of our group. By the next morning our group of 21 people was assembled. A few people from the Rogue river trip were there, and kayakers Shannon and John, the rest I didn't know. The crew at lunch

After enjoying some slow water to the take out Cody, Shannon, Kyler, Julia and I found a nice little camp spot and stayed another night. It was so fun to get out and luckily Milo did very well with his grandma's, so maybe they will let him stay again;)
When we got home my mom brought Milo home and he was MAD at me! He wouldn't look at me or let me hold him for a like an hour. But he eventually came around.
Hopefully Cody and I will be able to get out and enjoy some more time together before I begin nursing school in September.

Thank you Mom and Diane for watching Milo and thank you Shannon for being our personal photographer.
P.S. You can check out more of Shannon pictures here.

Fathers Day

Cody wanted to go climbing for father's day, (imagine that! Cody goes rock climbing every possible second. And when he's not climbing he's thinking about climbing (those are his own words)). So we made it a family trip and went camping in Maple Canyon. Maple Canyon is really beautiful. It is just south of Fountain Green. The walls are super steep and made of big cobble stones.

We almost left because it was raining so hard when we got there. We stuck it out for a few hours in the camper and it finally cleared up.Milo sat in this puddle right after this picture! Camping with kids is kinda tough! I learned on this trip that they need about three pairs of clothes for each day.

Milo is such a boy, he either had a rock or stick in his hand the whole time.

Milo, Cody and Shane on Father's Day morning. We got Cody a ticket stub diary.
He has a whole pot full of them in our closet.

Unfortunately I forgot the camera when we went climbing so I didn't get any pictures.

1- While Amber was in town we ran in the Springville 5k. It was actually really fun and we are planning a 10k for next time.

2- Cody redpointed a 12A.

3- You may have noticed that the birds are gone from my sidebar. Well last night Cody told me that there was a dead bird by the garage. I went and checked it out and it looked like the mama bird. So I checked the nest and she wasn't in there. Earlier that day I had watered and fertilized my flowers. I felt horrible! I just knew that my MiracleGro had killed the mama and now all of the little baby birds were going to die because of me. I spent the next hour checking the internet on how to hand feed birds. I came to the tearful decision that I would let nature takes it course.
Then this morning I walked out on my porch and the mama bird flew out of the nest. Oh sweet relief! I didn't kill her and now all of the little babies aren't doomed. So I will be restoring my sidebar shortly.

4- I'm having a hard time coming up with stuff this week so.......here is a video for fun.

Weekend with the Cousins

The Welker's came into town for the weekend so we spent as much time as possible at my parents house with them. It is always fun when they come to town. Milo and Lola are so funny together. You can definitely tell Milo is an only child. He gets a little overwhelmed by all of the kids, and he is a major chicken. He still hates the pool and he only likes the horses from a distance. But I'm okay with it. I don't have to worry about him jumping in the pool or getting kicked.

The Wedding

A few pics of the wedding. It rained off and on at the temple but I think it added to the beauty. Chayla was a beautiful bride. She is such a cute and fun girl. I am so happy to have her in the family and excited to get to know her better.

5 Things....

Oh my, Friday again already!

1- Pedal Power!- Milo and I have decided to ride our bike to the grocery store as long as weather permits. We have this great little bike trailer that can hold Milo and the groceries. Milo loves to ride in it. Plus its a great workout coming up the hill to our house pulling a kid, watermelon and milk!

2-This didn't necessarily happen this last week but I haven't written it down.
Milo can snap his fingers. It is the cutest thing. It even makes a sound.

3-I got Hayley and I lost on our bike ride. Our ride almost doubled, in the heat of the day in St. George. But at least we got in a good workout on our vacation!

4-Milo disovered that he can walk backwards. He thinks it is sooo cool! He looks at you and gets a little smirk on his face and slowly walks backward until he hits into something or falls down.

5- Today is Clay's wedding. I am so happy for my brother. I have NEVER seen him as happy as he is with Chayla.
