Halloween

Grandma Cheryl had her annual Halloween Party complete with witches fingers breadsticks, witches brew to drink, creepy jello and caramel apples. The kids loved it of course.

Milo was not excited about getting his costume on, he hated it at first. As soon as he was on  his bike he didn't care anymore.

We went to about 5 houses trick-or-treating.
When  we got home from trick-or-treating and were passing out candy, Milo kept dumping out the candy bowl.  Neither Cody or I realised he had stolen a whole bunch of pixy stix and eaten them until it was too late! He was up with a tummy ache half the night.

Anniversary and Colorado

5 Years!! Cody and I have been married for 5 years! I know it is crazy. Where does the time go? Our anniversary was the 25th of September and I had school orientation that same day. As I was getting ready that morning Cody came to say goodbye I said "And?" (I was waiting for him to wish me good luck at school) he smiled and said "Happy Anniversary." I looked at him and said "That's better." Even though I had totally forgotten that it was our anniversary! So yes ladies you should be jealous, my husband remembers anniversaries, which is a good thing since I dont!

As soon as I got done at orientation that day we packed up the car and left for Colorado. We went to spend my last weekend of freedom for the next 20 months with our friends Court and Jen and their sweet little baby who we hadn't met yet.
It was such a beautiful drive through the canyons with the colors changing. We spent the first day in Estes Park, where the hotel from "The Shining" is. The next day we went to Boulder and hung out. It was such a fun and relaxing trip. We hung out at Court and Jen's each night and played with the kids.

Nickels and San Diego

Last Thursday Amber and Todd went to New York City for their anniversary so my mom went to San Diego to babysit. She decided at the last minute she wanted me and Milo to come along and bought us plane tickets for Saturday morning. Friday night I was getting everything ready for our trip. I could hear Cody and Milo playing on the deck. Cody yelled to me inside, "Milo just swallowed a nickel!" "Well is he okay?" I replied. Turns out he wasn't. Cody brought him inside and he was crying ( a good thing, he was breathing) and throwing up (a bad thing. Not only scary but I was afraid he might throw up the nickel and it would get stuck higher). So I did what I always do in an emergency, I called Hayley. I then called the pediatrician and they told me if he was having a hard time swallowing we needed to take him to the emergency room. We decided that would be best and headed to the E.R. We had to wait only a few minutes and they got us back for a chest x-ray. There it was.....stuck. Then the waiting game began. We had to wait for them to call in the ENT (ear, nose and throat specialist) and the anesthesiologist. Over an hour later they arrived and they took my baby to the operating room to be put to sleep so that they could use a scope to go down his throat and retrieve the nickel. He was then taken up to pediatrics to recover for a couple of hours.

We got home around 1:30 and had to wake up at 7:00. Milo's poor little throat was hurting him. He had popsicles for breakfast and we headed for the airport. We got on I 2-15 and they had it closed down to 1 lane. WE MISSED OUR FLIGHT! Luckily they had room on the next flight.

Don't worry, our weekend got a lot better from there.
We spent our time hanging out with the kids and relaxing. Milo loved the beach! He loved everything about it. The water, sand, splashing and running.

Biking and Peaches

On Sunday Cody and I headed out for some much needed one on one time. Grandma Diane watched Milo while we went Mtn. Biking. Something that we haven't been doing enough of.
It was so beautiful up in the mountains. I love this time of year when there is a crispness to the air and the fall colors are just starting to pop up.

On our way home we saw Mr. Finch at the peach stand and stopped to say hello (And snag some of the BEST peaches).

Cody helped his cousin and uncle hang the new eye-catching sign.

So if your ever on 8th north and get the hankering for some peaches (We eat ours with vanilla ice cream, yum!)
stop and buy some from this cute guy.

West Fork Fourth of July

My grandma Jean's family were sheepherders in the Uinta's on the West Fork permit. My grandma used to spend her summers up there throughout her childhood. In 1937 her father, Roy Okelberry, built a cabin for the family to live in during the summers. It is one of the only remaining cabins in the area. My family spends the Fourth of July at the cabin every year. I would prefer being at the cabin over a parade or firework show any day! It is the most beautiful place and holds so many wonderful childhood memories for me. I hope that my children will be able to enjoy the cabin as much as I have.

One of the things I love about the cabin is that you are disconnected from the world. No tv. No radio. No phones. You have to find ways to entertain yourselves. When I was a kid we spent hours in the "elephant ears", hiking, exploring and playing in the "tree house". This year was no different. We found an old rope and had a jump roping competition. Bayden and Clinton were the winners by far.

I forgot a diaper when we went for a drive up top so this is Hayley fashioning Milo a diaper out of a grocery bag and some napkins. In case your wondering, it doesn't work.
