Charlie's 2 Month Stats

Weight: 12 lbs. 2 oz. (63%)
Length: 23 in. (51%)
Head: 15.88 in. (57%)

Charlie is such a happy, good baby. He has started to smile and respond to us. I love this age, he is the sweetest baby. Charlie is such a good sleeper. He usually only wakes up once at night and even does up to 7 hours straight! He is already wearing some of his 3-6 months clothes, which kind of breaks my heart. Why do they have to grow so fast? He doesn't really like baths and does not like to be naked! He flails his arms and legs like he is falling whenever he is naked. Milo is a good big brother and loves Charlie.

Two weeks and Halloween

We are settling into our new routine. Charlie is such an easy happy baby. I am loving being a mom the second time. No baby blues this time and I am able to really enjoy Charlie. I think just being more confident and knowing what to expect has made the second time even better.
At Charlie's two week appointment he weighed 9 lbs 2 oz and measured 21 inches. Already growing like a weed!

Grandma Cheryl had her annual Halloween party and it was a hit as always!

Milo was Spiderman for Halloween of course! He and Cody trick-or-treated around our neighborhood while Charlie and I passed out candy.

He's here!

Baby Finch was due October 20th. When I went in to my 38 week appointment my doctor offered to start me on the following Monday the 17th, 3 days before my due date. I was dilated to a 1 and 80% effaced. So we scheduled the induction but I was really nervous about it all week. I didn't want to be induced early and end up in labor for 30+ hours like I was with Milo. So I kept going back and forth on whether to be induced or cancel and give myself more time.  I decided I would get checked Friday and see if I had progressed. I called to see if that would be possible and found out there was no in the office that could check me that day. Luckily I know a nurse who knows a labor and delivery nurse who agreed to check me on Sunday. Sunday night she checked me and said I was dilated to a 3 and 80% she also stripped my membranes. We went to my parents that night and I was having contractions all night but they never got regular. We decided to go in the following morning and be induced. Monday morning we got the call around 6:00 a.m. got ready and headed to the hospital. This time around was so different from Milo. After starting pitocin around 8:00 a.m. I got my epidural around 10:00 and he was here by 2:15 p.m.

He weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.

It was so nice to get to hold him immediately. Milo had a hard time breathing and I didn't get to see him for a couple of hours so I LOVED being able to hold him and begin nursing within that first hour.
A lot of people said he looks just like Milo did. I think they definately look like brothers, but he has his own look.

We had narrowed our name list down to about 4 names that we liked but we had not decided on one when we got to the hospital. We also had Milo's picks, Dino, Boo-Boo Head and Sloppy Joe. We still hadn't decided after he was born. Cody came back to the hospital the day after he was born and we were talking about what we should name him when Cody suggested Charlie, which had not been on our list at all. I said that I liked it but we still weren't 100% sure. So I told Cody to take all the names we liked and write them down and draw out of a hat. Cody, Hayley and Millie (who were there visiting) all pulled Charlie out!We decided that was name: Charlie Duke Finch. Duke is Cody's grandma's maiden name.

Milo's Broken Leg

Milo and Grandpa Al with their matching casts.

On Saturday night Sept. 10th Cody and Milo were playing "Spiderman". In this game Milo is Spiderman and Cody is the bad guy and they basically run around and play fight. They were in our bedroom playing when I heard Milo start crying. I could tell that this was a serious cry. Milo had jumped off the bed, like he has hundreds of times, and must have landed wrong. We felt around his leg and he couldn't pinpoint where it hurt. So we laid him on the couch and when he tried to stand up later he fell to the floor. So Sunday morning we took him to the Instacare and had an x-ray. They said he had a very small fracture and put a soft cast on him. On Wednesday we took him to the orthopedic specialist and he felt like it was small enough that he would be ok with a walking cast. I was so thankful! I didn't know how I was going to carry him around for the last few weeks of my pregnancy. So after three weeks in a walking cast he was as good as new. Oh and of course he did this while we didn't have any insurance :(

Goodbye summer

We went to Canyons Resort to see a mutual friends band play, Smooth Money Gesture. It was such a beautiful night and so fun. Cody and I always end up saying, "Why don't we do this more often?" Whenever we go to something like this. Milo had a blast hanging out with Dylan and the other kids. They had face painting and Milo was SO cute waiting patiently for his turn, (much more patient than me. It took forever! I was ready to grab the brush and do it myself.) He sat up in the chair like a big kid and held more still than I thought was possible!
